Fix Comments Bug of Infinity Theme

Infinity is a great WP theme from Yichi of Vikiworks™ Studio, who has designed several amazing themes. I used it for my new website”DIGiSource“. But Infinity has a bug in comment system that people can’t submit when using IE 7.0. A little bug for theme but a big problem for blogger. Until now Yichi haven’t provided the solution for it. So I decided to fix it by myself. To modify the source codes in PHP files is difficult for me, because I am not a coder. I think that maybe there is a comment plugin can automatic fix this problem. After trying dozens of plugins I finally find that only one can works perfect with Infinity, it names ajax comments-reply. It not only resolves the comments problem but also adds ajax effect and preview function. But another problem is that this plugin changes the original comments style of Infinity. So people must modify the css style. I suggest to use web developer, an adds-on of Firefox, before writting new css, because you can preview the results through “edit css” function. This work is just so easy for coder or newbies with a liitle knowledge of css. Now you can see, there is an almost perfect comments system in my website.

Also, in my opinion Firebug is the best add-on for Firefoxx for doing CSS. Probably does the same as web developer.

Thanks for this fix, it’s been annoying me. However I still have an issue with the comment box being very far down the page, have you any idea how to fix this?

And where do you want the comment box to be?
It’s comment.php file that you have to edit to make comment template look different

I want it to be right under where the post ends, at the moment it is pushed way down to where the sidebar ends.
Here is an example: http://madboarder.com/magictorch/2008/09/getting-jacked/
The post text is shorter than the length of my sidebar so you have to scroll down to see the comments and comment box.
I want the comments and box to be directly underneath wherever the text ends. To do this I’ll need to adjust the width of the comment box and also make it affected by the length of the post rather than the sidebar.
(And it isn’t Disqus comments thats doing this, I’ve tried the default Wordpress comment system, Disqus and the solution Kevin suggests in this post)

hello Jamie,
check single.php of Infinity theme, you can find that comment template is called after sidebar. So if your sidebar is longer than your post, the comment box will be far down, because it must be underneath sidebar. I think you can fix this problem through changing the oder of comment and sidebar in single.php, and then modify the css style of Disqus and theme. Remember, backup all your files before do it.

Have you actually seen anyone using this theme yet? It’s incredibly complicated. I couldn’t get it to work correctly and the thought of having to add thumbnails to all my posts in order to show up on the main page was a draw back for me. Just curious if you’ve seen this theme in action on a live website?

I use this theme on my website but I turned the thumbnails off so I can post from my iPhone.

@Divageekdesigns: I’m using it at one of my sites: http://deskofheroes.com. I’ve modified it slightly:
- widgetized
- swapped comments and sidebar in single.php so the comment box isn’t way down.
- Added pages to the top
- put amazon instead of flickrrss at the bottom [which is sidebar 3]
- changed header image
- modified footer image
- added google ad under thumbnails on main page

OK people! Finally I found a solution for “comment post bug” in IE7. This should work, cuz it works for me
OK then:
1. Open - comments.php - file in theme folder.
2. Find - “button value=”submit” class=”submitBtn” -
3. Add - type=”submit” - just after - button value=”submit”

Hi,
I have a question concerning the FlickRSS setting from Infinity. I had installed the plugin an entered my Flickr ID but the Photostrip does not appear. Can you please give me advise?
